We are a community of Pashtun individuals, families, and allies who have sought safety, dignity, and a new future in Germany. Many of our members have directly experienced or witnessed the systematic human rights violations, enforced disappearances, extrajudicial violence, and ethnic discrimination that Pashtuns continue to face in Pakistan. We carry that experience with us, not as a burden but as a source of purpose and collective responsibility. 

As a registered association (eingetragener Verein) under German law, we operate with full transparency, democratic governance, and a commitment to peaceful civil society action. We work closely with local authorities, integration bodies, human rights organizations, and cultural institutions to serve our members and the broader public interest.

Pashtun Kulturverein Lar & Bar e.V. is committed to upholding the human rights, cultural identity, and social participation of Pashtuns in Germany and beyond. We believe that every person — regardless of ethnicity, origin, or legal status — holds inherent dignity and inalienable rights. Our mission is therefore threefold:

• To document, raise awareness of, and advocate against the ongoing human rights violations and ethnic discrimination targeting Pashtuns in Pakistan, including enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and the suppression of Pashtun political and cultural expression;

• To preserve and promote the Pashto language and Pashtun culture as living, vibrant expressions of an ancient civilization — ensuring that identity is not erased by displacement, persecution, or assimilation;

• To empower Pashtun individuals and families in Germany through integration support, language learning, vocational coaching, and civic participation — enabling them to lead self-determined, dignified lives in their new home.

We act in the spirit of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and the founding values of German civil society. Our work is non-partisan, non-violent, and grounded in the rule of law and international human rights norms.

We envision a world in which Pashtuns everywhere, whether in their ancestral homeland or in the diaspora, live free from fear, discrimination, and persecution; where their language and culture are recognized, protected, and celebrated; and where they are full and equal participants in the societies they are part of. 

In Germany, we see a future where Pashtun community members are integrated, empowered members of German society: proficient in the German language, active in the labor market, and engaged in civic life, while retaining pride in their cultural heritage and maintaining solidarity with those still suffering human rights violations in Pakistan.

Internationally, we envision a future in which the voices of Pashtuns silenced by enforced disappearances, state violence, and discriminatory state policies are heard by the international community, human rights bodies, and global civil society and where those responsible for systematic abuses are held to account under international law.
